Gutters in Frederick & Central MD
A cleaning that does not flush the downspouts and check the pitch has not fixed anything. It has just moved the blockage lower down.
Quick answer
A single-storey house runs $155 to $295 and a two-storey $225 to $425, including flushing every downspout and clearing blocked elbows. Three-storey elevations and anything needing scaffolding get quoted after a look rather than over the phone. If a buried discharge line needs clearing or checking, that is $145 to $385 on top.
The work
Most of the gutter emergencies we get called to in February started as a cleaning that stopped at the gutter. Debris gets scooped out of the trough, the ladder comes down, and the compacted plug sitting in the elbow at the bottom of the downspout stays exactly where it was. The gutter is now clean and still does not drain, and the first hard freeze after the first heavy rain puts ice where the water stood.
So the flush is the part that matters. We clear by hand into a bucket rather than blowing debris onto the roof and the beds, bag it, and then put a hose through every downspout from the top until it runs clear at the bottom. Where it will not clear, the elbow comes apart. That is routine and it is included, not a separate call-out.
Twice a year is right for most of Frederick County, and the timing is specific. Late spring catches the oak catkins and maple seed that nobody expects, and late November — not early — catches the oak leaves, because oaks here are still dropping well after the maples have finished and most houses get cleaned too early to catch them. On a clear lot once a year is honestly enough, and we would rather tell you that than sell you a second visit.
Cleaning prices on height, length of run and how much is in there. Three-storey elevations and anything needing scaffolding are quoted after a look.
Ranges, not quotes. Real numbers come from a walkthrough — access, condition, height and finish level move a price more than square footage does. Estimates are free and in writing.

Gutter cleaning
What’s included
Written into the estimate, not assumed. If something on your job is not on this list, it gets priced and named before anyone starts.
Debris into a bucket and off the property, not blown onto the roof, the beds or the neighbour. Gutters wiped down so what is left is grit, not sludge.
Hose from the top of each run until it runs clear at the discharge. Elbows opened where they will not clear. This is the half of the job that most cleanings skip.
Standing water after a flush means the run has lost its fall. Loose or missing hangers get noted with a position and a photograph so you know what is actually wrong.
Before and after from the ladder, plus a shot of anything that needs attention — a split seam, a soft fascia board, a loose downspout strap. You see the roofline you cannot see.
Based on what came out and what is growing above the house. Sometimes that is twice a year, sometimes it is once, and sometimes it is a recommendation to fit guards on two runs and stop paying for ladders.

Straight answers
Not covered here? Call and ask — you’ll get a real answer, not a “depends on the job”.
Twice a year for most of Frederick County — late spring for oak catkins and maple seed, and late November for oak leaf drop. The late November timing matters more than people expect, because oaks here keep dropping into December and a house cleaned in October gets refilled. On a lot with little overhanging canopy, once a year is genuinely enough.
On a single-storey ranch with good ladder footing, plenty of people do, and we would not pretend otherwise. The two things worth being honest about are that ladder falls at roof height are the most common serious home-maintenance injury, and that the part of the job that matters is the downspout flush, which is awkward from a ladder. If you do it yourself, put the hose down every downspout afterwards.
Sometimes, and when it does not we will tell you why. If a run overflows when it is demonstrably clear, the cause is pitch, outlet size or a gutter that was undersized for the roof from the start. That is a repair or a replacement conversation, not a cleaning one, and selling you a second cleaning for it would be dishonest.
Same crew, same visit
Most gutters jobs are two or three of these at once, which is why they are priced and scheduled together rather than as separate call-outs.
