Gutters in Frederick & Central MD
Most gutters that look like they are leaking are not leaking. They are overflowing, sagging out of pitch, or dumping water behind the fascia — three different problems with three different fixes.
Quick answer
Most single-fault gutter repairs in Frederick County run $185 to $550. A seam or end-cap reseal sits at the bottom of that range, re-pitching and re-hanging a full run at the top, and replacing a crushed ten to twenty foot section runs $275 to $700. If the fascia board behind the gutter has rotted, add $18 to $42 per foot for the board. Estimates are free and in writing, and we quote the fault we found rather than a flat call-out rate.
The work
A gutter has one job: move water to a downspout fast enough that it never reaches the edge. When it stops doing that, sealant is almost never the answer. We start by putting water through the run with a hose and watching where it actually goes, because the spot where water appears on the ground is rarely the spot where it left the gutter.
Three faults account for most of what we see in Frederick County. Pitch is the first — a gutter needs roughly a quarter inch of fall per ten feet, and spike-and-ferrule hangers on houses built before the mid-nineties work loose until a run holds standing water. The second is the seam at an end cap or an inside corner, which moves with every temperature swing until the sealant fails in shear. The third is not a gutter fault at all: water running behind the back of the gutter because the drip edge is short or missing, which rots the fascia board while the gutter itself stays perfect.
We fix the cause and then seal, in that order. Hidden hangers screwed into solid fascia every two feet replace spikes. A run that has been reshaped by a ladder gets straightened before it gets re-hung. If the fascia behind it has gone soft, we say so and price the board, because hanging new hardware on rotten wood is work you pay for twice.
Repairs are priced by fault, not by the foot. A single seam is a short visit; a run that needs re-hanging end to end is closer to a replacement. These are the ranges we actually write.
Ranges, not quotes. Real numbers come from a walkthrough — access, condition, height and finish level move a price more than square footage does. Estimates are free and in writing.

What’s included
Written into the estimate, not assumed. If something on your job is not on this list, it gets priced and named before anyone starts.
Water through every run, eyes on the fascia line and the downspout outlet. It takes fifteen minutes and it is the difference between fixing the fault and sealing near it.
Hidden hangers on two-foot centres, screwed into sound fascia, with the fall set with a level rather than by eye. Old spikes come out, the holes get sealed.
Joints cleaned back to bare metal, dried, and sealed with a tripolymer gutter sealant that stays flexible through a Maryland winter. Silicone bath caulk fails by the second season.
Where a run has been crushed, split or stretched past straightening, we replace that length and match the existing profile and colour rather than leaving a bright new piece in the middle of a wall.
Pulling a gutter is the only way to see the fascia. If the board is wet or soft you get a photograph and a price before we go any further, not a surprise on the invoice.

Straight answers
Not covered here? Call and ask — you’ll get a real answer, not a “depends on the job”.
That is the single most common call we get, and it is usually one of three things: the run has lost its pitch and holds water, the downspout outlet is blocked somewhere below the visible opening, or the gutter is simply undersized for the roof area feeding it. Four-inch gutters on a steep roof slope will overflow in a Maryland summer downpour no matter how clean they are. We can tell which it is in one visit.
Repair while the metal is sound and the faults are countable. Once you are fixing a third separate leak on the same run, the hangers are pulling out in more than one place, or the gutters are the original four-inch profile, repair money starts going into something that will need replacing anyway. We will tell you which side of that line you are on, including when the honest answer is that a $250 repair buys you another five years.
Active water against a wall or into a soffit gets a same-week slot wherever the schedule allows, because that is the one gutter fault that turns into a framing and drywall repair if it waits. Call and describe what you are seeing.
Same crew, same visit
Most gutters jobs are two or three of these at once, which is why they are priced and scheduled together rather than as separate call-outs.
