Roofing in Frederick & Central MD
Wind and hail damage assessed, photographed and written up as a scope you can hand to your adjuster — with none of the behaviour that follows a storm through Maryland neighbourhoods a week later.
Quick answer
Often, if the damage is genuinely from a covered event and the claim is filed within your policy's window. What carriers push back on is age-related wear presented as storm damage, and what they increasingly apply is a separate wind-and-hail deductible that can be a percentage of the dwelling value rather than a flat sum — worth reading before you file, because on a smaller claim it can exceed the repair. We document what we find and you file it. We are not public adjusters and cannot negotiate your claim for you.
The work
After a storm, two things arrive. One is actual damage: lifted or creased shingles along a windward slope, granule loss in a bruised pattern, a torn ridge cap, a limb strike. The other is a van full of people who were not here last week, offering a free inspection and a signature on something.
We will tell you plainly whether you have damage, including when you do not. A great deal of what gets written up as hail damage in this part of Maryland is ordinary ageing — blistering, normal granule shed, mechanical scuffs from a previous job — and an adjuster who has seen a thousand roofs this season will know the difference even when the person who knocked on your door hoped they would not.
What we will never do: tell you the damage is worse than it is, add undamaged slopes to a scope, or offer to absorb your deductible. That last one is marketed as a favour and it is fraud — the only way a contractor can absorb a deductible is by inflating the claim to cover it, and the claim goes in with your signature on it, not theirs.
Storm work is usually a claim rather than a quote, so these are the figures that matter before one is filed. Where a claim is approved, the carrier's scope sets the price and we work to it.
Ranges, not quotes. Real numbers come from a walkthrough — access, condition, height and finish level move a price more than square footage does. Estimates are free and in writing.

Storm and hail damage
What’s included
Written into the estimate, not assumed. If something on your job is not on this list, it gets priced and named before anyone starts.
Every slope walked where it is safe to, with the direction the weather came from taken into account. Damage is directional, and a roof damaged on all four slopes is unusual enough to be worth questioning.
Dated, located photographs of each damaged area and of the test squares, in a form your insurer will accept. You get the same set we do.
Line-by-line, in the language adjusters use, covering what needs replacing and why. You hand it over yourself — we do not negotiate on your behalf and we are not licensed to.
If the roof is open, it gets covered before anybody discusses money. Tarping is a separate, small, fixed cost and it is not contingent on you using us for the repair.
Hail that marked your roof usually marked the gutters, the siding and the window wraps. We note it because your claim should cover all of it, and because we do those trades ourselves.
A written finding of no storm damage, with the photographs, so you can decline the next three vans with something solid behind you.

Straight answers
Not covered here? Call and ask — you’ll get a real answer, not a “depends on the job”.
Not that day, and not anything. A free inspection is fine; a signature on an agreement, an assignment of benefits, or a contingency contract tied to a claim is a different thing wearing the same clothes. Get the claimed damage looked at by somebody who was working in this county before the storm. You can also check whether hail actually passed over your address on the date you were told, which is public record rather than a matter of opinion.
No, and you should treat the offer as a warning about whoever made it. A deductible is your share of the claim by contract. The only way a contractor absorbs it is by inflating the scope so the carrier pays it instead, which is insurance fraud — and because the claim carries your signature, you are a party to it rather than a bystander. Anyone willing to commit fraud on your behalf on day one is not the person you want on your roof for two days.
It depends on your policy, and the practical answer is sooner than the deadline. Most carriers expect prompt reporting and some apply tighter windows to wind and hail specifically. The harder problem is evidential rather than contractual: six months after a storm, your roof has been through more weather and distinguishing the original event from everything since gets genuinely difficult. If you think something happened, get it documented now even if you do not file.
Same crew, same visit
Most roofing jobs are two or three of these at once, which is why they are priced and scheduled together rather than as separate call-outs.
From the field
Longer answers than a quote page has room for — how the work fails, what putting it right actually involves, and when waiting is the honest call.
Sources worth your time
None of these are ours. They are the offices and standards bodies that set the rules we work to, so you can verify what we say rather than take it.
Searchable by county and date. If you are not sure whether hail actually passed over your address on the day a canvasser says it did, this is the record that settles it.
