Plumbing in Frederick & Central MD
Swapping a faucet takes an hour when the valves underneath work. When they do not, which is most houses past twenty years old, the honest job is slightly bigger and much more worth doing.
Quick answer
Fitting a faucet into existing holes runs $180 to $420 in labour, plus the fixture. Replacing the stop valves and supply lines while we are under there adds $120 to $280 per fixture and is worth every bit of it on a house past twenty years. A drop-in sink replaced alongside is $290 to $640, an undermount $420 to $980 because of how it is clipped and sealed. Where the old leak has swollen the cabinet base, repairing that properly is $280 to $850.
The work
A dripping faucet, a spout that swivels loose, a sprayer that has stopped sealing or a finish that has pitted through — these are small jobs with one recurring complication. The shut-off valves under the sink are usually the original multi-turn stops, and after fifteen or twenty years they either will not turn or will not seal once they have. The right move is to replace them while the water is already off, and that is a small addition to a faucet job and a large saving on the next one.
Sinks bring their own decisions. A drop-in replacement into an existing laminate or tiled top is straightforward. An undermount sink into stone is not a plumbing job at all for the most part — it is a question of what the countertop will support and how it is clipped and sealed. A change from a double bowl to a single, or to a deeper bowl, can mean the drain and trap arm have to move, and on a kitchen that sometimes means opening the wall behind the cabinet. We say which of those yours is before quoting.
The part that lands on us rather than the plumber is almost always the cabinet. A faucet or supply line that has been weeping quietly has usually swollen the cabinet floor, delaminated the base and sometimes got into the wall behind. That gets cut out and rebuilt properly, and if the kitchen or bathroom needs tile, trim or paint afterwards, it is the same crew on the same contract.
Labour is predictable; the fixture is your choice. These ranges assume we supply and fit the valves and supply lines as part of the work rather than pricing them separately.
Ranges, not quotes. Real numbers come from a walkthrough — access, condition, height and finish level move a price more than square footage does. Estimates are free and in writing.

What’s included
Written into the estimate, not assumed. If something on your job is not on this list, it gets priced and named before anyone starts.
Single hole, three hole, widespread, wall mounted and bridge configurations, with the deck or wall checked for whether the new unit actually suits the hole pattern you have.
Quarter-turn stops and braided supply lines as standard rather than as an extra. It is the difference between the next repair being a ten minute job and being a whole-house shut off.
Drop-in, undermount and vessel installations, with the top assessed for whether it will take the sink you want. Cut-outs in stone go to a fabricator rather than being improvised on site.
New drain assembly, trap and tailpiece, with the trap arm relocated where a bowl change moves the drain. Done to fall rather than fudged, so it drains properly and does not smell.
Where a kitchen sink carries a disposal or a dishwasher drain, those are reconnected correctly, including the high loop or air gap that stops dirty water backing into the machine.
Swollen cabinet floors, delaminated bases, soft drywall behind and damaged tile or backsplash — repaired by our own crew, which is the half of this job most plumbing quotes do not mention.

Straight answers
Not covered here? Call and ask — you’ll get a real answer, not a “depends on the job”.
Not quite. The hole pattern decides it: a three-hole deck will not take a single-hole faucet without a deck plate, a single-hole top will not take a widespread set without drilling, and drilling stone needs a fabricator rather than a plumber. Wall-mounted faucets need the rough-in to be in the right place, which usually means opening the wall. Send us a photo of the sink from above and we will tell you what fits before you buy anything.
Yes, and it is the single best twenty minutes anybody spends during a faucet job. The original multi-turn stops seize with mineral deposit, and the moment you need one is the moment you discover it will not close — usually with water coming out. Replacing them with quarter-turn ball valves while the water is already off costs very little and makes every future repair at that fixture a local job instead of a whole-house one.
On our quotes, yes. A slow leak from a faucet, a supply line or a trap goes into the cabinet base and the wall behind it, and by the time you notice the base is swollen the particle board has usually given up. Cutting that out and rebuilding it is carpentry rather than plumbing, so a plumbing-only contractor will leave it with you. Our crew does both halves on the same contract, and that is the main reason to use us for small plumbing work at all.
Same crew, same visit
Most plumbing jobs are two or three of these at once, which is why they are priced and scheduled together rather than as separate call-outs.
