Drywall in Frederick & Central MD
Board stocked and hung, priced on its own, for builders and remodelers who have their own finishers and want the hanging done right before they arrive.
Quick answer
Hang only runs $0.60 to $1.20 per square foot of board in 2026, which puts an average bedroom at roughly $280 to $560 for the hanging alone. Ceilings sit higher at $0.80 to $1.50 because of the overhead work and five-eighths board. That is the same figure quoted on our main drywall installation page, and board itself is at cost plus delivery rather than marked up.
The work
Plenty of general contractors and remodelers have a finisher they trust and no hangers. That is a sensible way to run a business, and it is a service we sell on its own rather than treating it as half a job we would rather have all of.
Hanging is where the finish is won or lost, which is the whole reason it is worth buying separately rather than giving to whoever is available. Sheet layout decided against the light and the fixtures. Butt joints staggered and kept off the middle of long walls. Board held tight to the framing over a bowed stud rather than bridged across it. Screws on the correct spacing, seated to a dimple, not driven through the face. A finisher inheriting that work spends his time finishing; a finisher inheriting the opposite spends it compensating, and it shows anyway.
What we hand over is a defined condition: board up, fasteners set, cutouts cut to size, inside and outside corners square and ready for bead, and the scrap gone. If your finisher wants the beads run as part of our scope we will quote that; if he would rather do his own we leave them.
Hang-only pricing per square foot of board, matching the figure on our main drywall installation page. Height, cut-up plans and specialty board move it inside the range.
Ranges, not quotes. Real numbers come from a walkthrough — access, condition, height and finish level move a price more than square footage does. Estimates are free and in writing.

Drywall hanging, hang only
What’s included
Written into the estimate, not assumed. If something on your job is not on this list, it gets priced and named before anyone starts.
Board ordered, delivered and spread room by room, stacked so it does not overload one floor bay or sit where the next trade needs to work.
Sheet run worked out against windows, fixtures and long walls, so the butt joints land where raking light will not pick them out later.
Correct screw spacing, set to a dimple without breaking the paper. This is the single most common cause of fastener pops in the second year.
Boxes, cans, registers and hose bibs cut to real dimensions so the trim covers the hole and the finisher is not filling a crater.
Inside and outside corners straight and ready for bead, with the bead itself in or out of scope exactly as your finisher prefers.
Offcuts and packaging gone, floors clear. Your finisher should start on a clean floor rather than clearing someone else's debris.

Straight answers
Not covered here? Call and ask — you’ll get a real answer, not a “depends on the job”.
Yes, and we price it as its own service rather than as a discount off a full job. We hand over a defined condition — board up, fasteners set to a dimple, cutouts to size, corners square and ready for bead, scrap gone — so your finisher starts work instead of correcting ours. Whether the beads are in our scope is your call and we quote it either way.
A two-crew day covers roughly 2,500 to 4,000 square feet of board in an empty shell, so a typical new house is two to four days of hanging depending on how cut up the plan is. A lived-in remodel is slower because of protection, access and furniture. We give a date at quote and a crew size sized to hold it rather than an optimistic single-crew figure.
Either. If we supply it, board goes on the invoice at cost plus delivery with the supplier's ticket attached, because marking up sheetrock is not where we make our money. If you have an account you would rather use, order to our take-off and we will confirm the count before delivery so you are not short a dozen sheets on the second morning.
Same crew, same visit
Most drywall jobs are two or three of these at once, which is why they are priced and scheduled together rather than as separate call-outs.
From the field
Longer answers than a quote page has room for — how the work fails, what putting it right actually involves, and when waiting is the honest call.
Sources worth your time
None of these are ours. They are the offices and standards bodies that set the rules we work to, so you can verify what we say rather than take it.

Tick as many as you like. Most jobs are two or three of them at once, and I sort out the detail when I come and look. Nobody gets turned away for choosing the wrong box.
