Bathroom Remodeling in Frederick & Central MD
A vanity is the one piece of furniture in the bathroom, and it is fitted into a room where no wall is straight and no floor is level. Getting it to look built-in rather than delivered is carpentry, not assembly.
Quick answer
A freestanding unit fitted and scribed runs $450 to $1,100 in labour, and a wall-hung unit $650 to $1,400 where the wall is already open. If blocking has to be retrofitted into a finished wall, add roughly $450 to $1,000 for the opening, the timber and the patch and paint afterwards. The unit itself is bought separately.
The work
Most bathroom vanities arrive as a box with a flat back and square ends, and go into a room that has none of those things. The wall waves, the floor falls towards the door, and the side that meets the shower is not quite ninety degrees. A vanity dropped in as delivered shows every one of those, usually as a dark gap along the splashback.
The fix is old-fashioned and not expensive: scribe the unit to the wall, pack and level the carcass before it is fixed, and fill the shadow line with a scribed fillet rather than a bead of sealant doing a job it was never meant to do. It adds a couple of hours and it is the difference between fitted and placed.
Wall-hung vanities are a separate problem. The whole weight of the cabinet, the top, the basin and whatever is in the drawers hangs off the wall, and plasterboard holds none of it. That needs solid blocking in the stud cavity, set at the right height, before the wall closes. If the wall is already finished, it means opening it, and we would rather tell you that at the estimate than at the fitting.
Installation only. Vanity units, tops and tap ware vary too widely to range usefully, so these are labour, materials of fixing, and the make-good around them.
Ranges, not quotes. Real numbers come from a walkthrough — access, condition, height and finish level move a price more than square footage does. Estimates are free and in writing.

What’s included
Written into the estimate, not assumed. If something on your job is not on this list, it gets priced and named before anyone starts.
For any wall-hung unit, solid timber let into the stud cavity at the bracket height, sized for the loaded weight of the cabinet rather than the empty one.
Levelled across both axes and packed off an uneven floor before a single fixing goes in, because a cabinet racked at the base will never close its doors squarely.
The back and any wall-side end scribed to follow the actual plaster, with a fillet where a gap is unavoidable, rather than a thick line of sealant pretending to be a joint.
Stone and solid-surface tops measured from the installed carcass, not from the catalogue dimension, so the overhang is even and the tap holes land where the tap actually goes.
Traps, supplies and shut-offs connected by the licensed plumber on the job. We set the cabinet, cut the penetrations accurately and coordinate the schedule so nobody is waiting on anybody.
Fixings and backing set for mirrors, cabinets and light fittings, and any skirting or scribe mould run in to close the job out properly.

Straight answers
Not covered here? Call and ask — you’ll get a real answer, not a “depends on the job”.
Not on plasterboard alone, and we will not fit one that way. A loaded wall-hung vanity with a stone top can carry a couple of hundred pounds, and cavity fixings into board will eventually tear out, usually taking a section of wall with them. It needs timber blocking between the studs at bracket height.
Either, and most clients buy their own. If you are choosing it yourself, send us the model before you order and we will check the dimensions against the room and the drain position. The commonest problem is a unit whose drawer boxes sit exactly where the existing waste comes through the wall.
We set the cabinet and top, cut the penetrations and coordinate the schedule, and the licensed plumber on the job makes the supply and waste connections. That split is a licensing matter, not a preference. MHIC does not authorise plumbing work, so we do not do it ourselves and do not claim to.
Same crew, same visit
Most bathroom remodeling jobs are two or three of these at once, which is why they are priced and scheduled together rather than as separate call-outs.
