Bathroom Remodeling in Frederick & Central MD
No shower, no bath, nowhere to hide. A powder room is the one bathroom guests use and the one where every joint is at eye level in a space you can touch both walls in.
Quick answer
A refresh runs $4,000 to $9,000, and a full strip out and refit $7,000 to $13,000. If the suite and floor are sound and it is only the finishes you dislike, paint, trim and a new floor alone lands between $1,800 and $3,800, which is the best value work we do on a square-foot basis.
The work
A powder room has no wet area, which removes the most technically demanding part of a bathroom and leaves the part that is purely about finish. There is nothing structural to get right and nowhere for a rough edge to hide. Everything a guest sees is within arm's reach under a single light.
That makes it the best value upgrade in most houses. The room is small, the materials quantities are tiny, and a tile you could never justify across a primary bathroom costs very little across thirty square feet. A powder room is where a hand-made tile or a real stone top is genuinely affordable.
It is also quick. Most are done inside a week, and because the house has other bathrooms, nobody is living around it. If you want one room to feel finished before a holiday or a sale, this is usually the one to do.
Frederick and Central Maryland half baths. Because the quantities are small, a better specification costs far less here than in any other room.
Ranges, not quotes. Real numbers come from a walkthrough — access, condition, height and finish level move a price more than square footage does. Estimates are free and in writing.

What’s included
Written into the estimate, not assumed. If something on your job is not on this list, it gets priced and named before anyone starts.
Old suite, floor and wall finishes out, with the walls brought back flat and square before anything new goes on. In a small room this is most of the job.
Board repaired or replaced, taped and skimmed to a level finish, and primed. Under a single downlight in a small room, a level four finish shows every ripple, so these go to level five.
Tile, luxury vinyl or timber laid out so the cuts land at the least visible wall, and a proper threshold where it meets the hallway.
Pan and basin positioned, fixed and sealed, with the supply and waste connections made by the licensed plumber. We do the construction and the coordination.
Mitred, scribed and filled to a paint finish rather than caulked into submission, which in a room this size is the detail people actually notice.
Cut in by hand to the trim and the ceiling line. A powder room is where wallpaper is genuinely worth it, and we hang it rather than talking you out of it.

Because the number of operations barely changes. A powder room still needs strip out, protection, board repair, finishing, priming, painting, flooring, trim and a suite set and connected. Only the quantities shrink, and quantities are the cheap part. The fixed costs of turning up and setting up are the same as for a room four times the size.
Yes, and it is one of the few rooms where we actively suggest it. There is no shower, so there is no sustained moisture, and the area is small enough that an expensive paper is affordable. The surface underneath has to be properly prepared and sized first, which is the step that decides whether it lifts at the seams.
Three to five working days for a refresh and about a week to ten days for a full refit, most of which is waiting on paint and sealant rather than on us. Because it is rarely the only bathroom in the house, a powder room is the least disruptive room we work in.
Same crew, same visit
Most bathroom remodeling jobs are two or three of these at once, which is why they are priced and scheduled together rather than as separate call-outs.
From the field
Longer answers than a quote page has room for — how the work fails, what putting it right actually involves, and when waiting is the honest call.
